Cardboard characters - Snoopy and Woodstock

Dive into a world of boundless imagination by offering your children a fun and artistic activity: creating cardboard characters! With recycled cardboard and a good dose of creativity, your children can bring their favorite heroes or fantastical creatures to life.

Materials needed:

  • Cardboard sheets (preferably recycled)

  • Scissors

  • Glue (optional if opting for slots for assembly)

  • Markers, colored pencils, or paint

  • Decorative accessories (glitter, buttons, ribbons, etc.)

Creation steps:

1. Character selection: Start by discussing with your children to decide the type of character they would like to create. Is it a superhero, a princess, a fantastical animal, or a completely invented character?

2. Drawing and cutting: Once the character is chosen (Snoopy in our case), help the children draw the different parts of their character on the recycled cardboard. They can draw the body, head, arms, legs, and any details that come to mind. Don't forget the stands if you want them to stand up on their own. Then, carefully cut out each part using scissors.

3. Decoration: Before assembling your character, it needs to be decorated! Use markers, colored pencils, paint, or decorative accessories to add details and character to your character. Let children's imaginations run wild and encourage them to personalize their character according to their tastes.

4. Assembly: You can choose to assemble the different parts of the character using glue, or by creating slots in each part to fit them together. Slots provide a glue-free alternative and allow children to easily manipulate their character once completed.

5. Play and imagine: Once the characters are finished, let them dry completely. Then, children can have fun inventing stories and adventures featuring their new cardboard characters. Whether it's for role-playing, puppet shows, or simply decorating their room, these characters will surely provide many hours of fun and imagination!

By simply using cardboard and a few accessories, your children can bring a multitude of characters to life. This activity is not only fun but also encourages creativity, manual dexterity, and recycling. So, grab your scissors and pencils, and let your imagination run wild! 🌟
